Our Beach House

Every other year during spring break, the Skousens go on a big vacation to Rocky Point, Mexico. We usually rent a beach house and stay there for a few days. Some of the activities we've done in the past include getting our hair done in cornrows, swimming, going on a banana boat, and celebrated holidays like St. Patrick's Day and Easter. It's always so much fun! This year will be our third year going, and we are all SO excited!



A couple of weeks ago, my dad got the opportunity to go with my Grandma and Grandpa Skousen down to Rocky Point to rent out the beach house that we'll be staying in! It was his birthday, and it was nice for him to get off work and go to Mexico. Here are a few pictures of the beach house they got. My grandpa took the pictures, and he didn't take one of the house from the front, so I'm just going to show you some pictures of parts of it.

It's Official ... I LOVE Picnik!

So, about 2 months ago, my cousin, Kassidi, introduced me to picnik.com. It's just about the BEST photo-editing program EVER!!! Picnik is pretty much everything I do in my spare time and I highly suggest it. Here are a few of the experiments I've done.

Superbowl Sunday

Superbowl weekend was a whole lot of fun, despite the outcome of the game! Our family went to Chino Valley at my Uncle Curt and Aunt Jeannine's house to watch the big game. While we were there, we played with cousins and chatted. My personal favorite activity was playing Rockband. They have drums, guitar, and singing. It was so much fun! My favorite song to sing was Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi. It would have been the PERFECT weekend if the Cardinals' hadn't lost!

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year everyone! Our family spent this new year at Curt & Jeannine's house. We got to participate in the Skousen family gift exchange. All the kids drew a name earlier in the year and the rules were to make a present for the person they drew.

We also celebrated Slade's 6th Birthday there. Our cousin Paige made the delicious chocolate cake that everybody happily devoured, (even though it was organic and gluten-free, courtesy of Paige's mom who's on a vegan diet).

Then, on New Year's Eve everybody stayed up 'till midnight to ring in the new year! It was AMAZING-ly fun, and I'm so sad that we have to go home tomorrow, and then go to school. :(

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had an awesome Thanksgiving weekend. It started out with going to my Aunt Jeri's house for Thanksgiving dinner. It was a lot of fun to see family and friends again, and the turkey was delicious!

The day after that, Sierra went with Grandma, Aunt Jeri, Aunt Jeannine, Aunt Christy, and cousins Kassidi and Paige to go Christmas shopping ... at 3AM! I know that I personally would not want to get up that early! :)

On Saturday, all the families went Christmas Tree Cutting! It was so much fun, and we found the perfect tree! Here are a few pictures from our trip.

Sorry, Jade's not in the picture. She was having a little costume issue, long story. Anyways, she was a spider queen. Everyone else in the picture are cousins. Since everyone was down in Maricopa for Shane's funeral, we all decided to go trick-or-treating at our house. All in all, it was a really fun night.
